The Slinfold Newsreel was produced from 2002 to 2011 and recorded events and other aspects of village life in an informative, entertaining and often amusing fashion. Each newsreel ran for 10-15 minutes and was shown prior to the main feature film at Village Cinema showings.
It was produced by Charles Chatwin, and we are eternally grateful for the many hours of, not only filming, but also compilation, editing, sound track and other work which went into the production of each newsreel.
Each year, Charles produced a compilation of that year’s Slinfold Newsreels intially on VHS and then on DVD, which means that we have a fantastic record of a decade of Slinfold life, and we now play selected topical excerpts from archive newsreels before the main film at the current Village Cinema.
